My water hyacinths are blooming this year. Letting them get crowded seems to have helped. The lotuses are blooming, too (at least the Chawan Basu is—see the picture at the top of this page.) I now have three varieties: Chawan Basu, Silver Trophy, and Evening Shower. The latter two varieties are definitely bowl-sized. They are growing in shallow 18-inch wide bowls.
I also have, in the front yard, a deer chaser (Shishi Odoshi — ししおどし, 鹿威し).
